ROBERT SPRONG

A graduate of the class of 2007 Robert was a two year varsity letterman and a member of the Viking program since his freshman year. He was known for his intelligent play and strong work ethic. Robert was active in our summer 40-G program since his ninth grade year and through hard work and determination he was able to work his way into the starting rotation as a senior. In 2006 Robert scored 56 defensive points and was in on 21 tackles and recorded two pass break ups. He was also a major contributor on a number of Viking special teams. Robert’s highest single game production came against the 2005 defending Division IV CIF Champion Valley Center Jaguars. He recorded four solo tackles and one pass breakup in helping the Vikings to a 13 -10 victory. Robert was an excellent student and his 4.22 GPA ranked him number one among all players in the 2007 varsity program. He was recognized by the San Diego Union-Tribune as an Outstanding Scholar-Athlete in 2005 and 2006. His senior year he was appointed Star Chamber Chief of Staff to his teammate Blake Shelburne and was awarded the Defensive Coaches Award in recognition of his unselfish play and career contributions to the Viking football program. Robert was also a two year varsity letterman in baseball. Pictures of Robert can be found in both the 2005 and 2006 action photo files.
