MIKE POLIN

41

A graduate of the class of 2003, Mike was a player who through hard work and determination reached the heights of high school football success when very few thought it was possible. After spending three seasons in the La Jolla program and having seen very little playing time, Mike embarked on an intense off-season training program that improved his speed and strength. His improved physical capabilities allowed him to compete for a starting position in the secondary.

Having secured a starting corner spot, Mike proceeded to have a dream season that resulted in his being selected to the First Team All-Western League squad. In the 2002 season, Mike was in on 37 tackles, recovered a fumble and led the defense with 7 pass break ups. He will probably be most remembered for his touchdown saving play against San Diego High that resulted in his winning Play of the Week honors on the Prep Pigskin Report television voting.

In addition to his All-League selection, Mike was voted the team's Most Improved Defensive Player and was a member of the County All-Academic Team in both 2001 and 2002. He carried a 3.8 GPA his senior year. Photos of Mike can be found in the 2002 photo section.
