Like his teammate Spencer Moyer, Jerrell was also a standout member of the La Jolla varsity basketball team. Jerrell's 24 points in the CIF Division III Finals lead the Vikings to the section title and a memorable run in the state playoffs that ended in a quarter-finals loss to eventual state champion Santa Margarita. In his senior year he was selected to the First Team Division III All-CIF Team and was chosen to play in the City-County All-Star game. Jerrell was also an outstanding sprinter on the La Jolla track and field team and won the league's 100 meter title. Jerrell is a type of athlete that is becoming less and less common. He is a three sport stand out who unselfishly shared all his talents while all along never being concerned with specialization in any one sport. For this and all his other contributions he will always be fondly remembered by his coaches and teammates. Pictures of Jerrell can be found in the 2006 and 2007 Action Photos file.
